Zaparas Lawyers Match Preview: Greens host St Albans for Marchioli debut

The Bentleigh Greens are set to take on St Albans Saints in their first game under new Head Coach Ric Marchioli.

The Greens have been struggling this season, sitting at the bottom of the table with no wins to their name yet.

However, with the arrival of Marchioli and new signing Christos Theodorakopoulos, a dynamic attacking midfeilder who has already scored two NPLVIC goals this season for Moreland City, the team is eager to turn their fortunes around.

Their opponents, St Albans Saints, have had a mixed start to the season, sitting in eighth place with one win, four draws, and one loss from six games.

The Saints lost narrowly to South Melbourne last week in a 1-0 home defeat, but have picked up credible draws with Oakeligh Cannons, Hume City and Dandenong Thunder, as well as a strong win at home against Heidelberg United in their last five games.

Like the Greens, the Saints have struggled for clean sheets this season, so Bentleigh will be hoping to find the back of the net as often as possible on Friday night.

Bentleigh’s turbulent start to the season has not been helped by a spate of injuries and suspensions, however with the squad getting increasingly deep and with a new coach at the helm, the Greens are excited for the weeks ahead and hope to start getting some points on the board.

The game will take place on Friday, March 31 at 7:30 PM at the Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
