Bentleigh Greens snap up former Melbourne City prospect, Daniel Lucente

The Bentleigh Greens are delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Lucente from Pascoe Vale.

Having spent the vast majority of his career to date with A-Leagues Men’s giant Melbourne City, Lucente represents a strong option at full-back, and another young, exciting addition to the Greens squad.

Lucente left City in search of consistent senior football, which he found in NPL2 with Pascoe Vale in 2022, but said he was delighted to have the opportunity to move up and test himself in the NPL Victoria competition with the Greens.

“I think, like most people, the Greens are just a club you hear and see a lot of,” he said.

“I’ve watched them on TV and on the streams taking on A-League clubs in the Australia Cup, and they’ve had great success in the Dockerty Cup and the league, so it’s a great club to be a part of.

“The facilities are good, they try and play the right sort of soccer and I’ve wanted to have a crack at NPL for a long time, so when the opportunity came to trial, I just wanted to give it my best shot and it worked out well.”

Lucente arrives at the Greens alongside a familiar face in Aydin Mustedanagic, who he also played with at Paco.

“It’s always nice to have a familiar face at the club, and he’s a top bloke, so we’re carpooling together into training and games, which has been great,” he said.

“But, to be honest, it’s been awesome at the club. The quality is unreal, the ball is moving and fizzes around the ground, and you can see there is a real commitment to playing a good brand with good players.

“I think as a team, we should aim to win every game we play in and try and win every trophy we’re competing for. Individually, I want to be an effective contributor and play 90 minutes week in, week out and hold my spot in the team.”

The Greens welcome Lucente to the club and wish him all the best for Season 2023.
