Tichy out to right the wrongs of Round 1 on trip to Moreland City
Bentleigh Greens Head Coach Petr Tichy is looking for the bounceback factor on Saturday as his Greens prepare for Round 2.
Bentleigh Greens are set to face Moreland City in their second game of the NPL Victoria campaign on Saturday at CB Smith Reserve.
After their defeat to North Geelong Warriors in Round 1, the Greens will be eager to get their first win on the board this season. Tichy has been reviewing last week’s match and has pinpointed the individual errors as the main reason for the 3-1 defeat.
“Geelong had four chances and scored three goals. Those chances weren’t really created by them; we gave it to them, so we have to avoid that, and if we can do that, I believe we can beat anyone,” said Tichy.
“We will play worse games than we played against North Geelong and win games.”
Despite the loss, Tichy remained positive and believes his team will bounce back.
“It definitely wasn’t the start we were looking for, but the game against Moreland is one where we can put everything right,” he added.
The Bentleigh Greens created plenty of chances in their match against North Geelong Warriors but failed to convert them. Tichy is hopeful that his team can take their opportunities against Moreland City.
“We created chances in that first 15-20 minutes; you expect to convert again and again,” said Tichy.
The return of Ben Carrigan, who could only appear as a sub against North Geelong, will provide a boost to the team. The senior coach is looking forward to having him back in the team.
“Everyone is back to full fitness, Ben Carrigan is back to full fitness. He’ll be a big help in the centre of defence, everyone else is in besides Scott Hilliar. He’s away, but Ben is back, and everyone else is available,” said Tichy.
Despite Moreland City’s defeat in their first game, Tichy is not taking them lightly and has done his homework on the newly-promoted side.
“We watched their game against South Melbourne, and they looked like they’re up for the fight in NPL. So, we know we need to avoid individual mistakes, and we have the chance to win,” he said.
Bentleigh Greens will be hoping to put their Round 1 loss behind them and get their first win of the season against Moreland City on Saturday.
