The Bentleigh Greens have found a new lease of life under the stewardship of new Senior Coach Riccardo Marchioli, having won both of his first two games in charge. They’ll be looking to continue their recent form when they take on Oakleigh Cannons at Jack Edwards Reserve on Easter Monday.
The Greens have had some impressive performances recently, defeating St Albans Saints 4-1 in their last league outing before backing up with a gritty 1-0 win over FC Strathmore Split in the Australia Cup last Thursday night. They’ll be looking to keep the momentum up as they look to turn their season around.
The Cannons sit fourth on the table, having won four, drawn two and lost one of their opening seven games. They have endured some mixed form over the last five league games, winning two and losing twice, most recently in the previous round against South Melbourne.
The Greens have moved off the foot of the table courtesy of last week’s win over St Albans but will need to string a run of wins together to continue to climb the table. The reigning Premiers defeated Bentleigh 4-0 in the Community Shield earlier this season and will provide a stern test for the Greens.
The Greens are confident that they can continue to build momentum and string together some more victories, but they know they will have to be at their best against a strong Oakleigh side. The stage is set for a cracking Easter Monday clash at Jack Edwards Reserve.
